Excluders Explained
excluders are words that you don't want to see in the titles of your target listings.
Excluders - Simple Explanation
Excluders are key words that you don't want to see in the titles of listings. For example, if you are searching for "Wood Heater" the presence of the word "gas" in a title would strongly indicate that it's not relevant to your search. If you have "gas" as an excluder you won't be notified if any titles contain this word.
Excluders Example
Imagine you’re searching for a “Bluetooth speaker” on Facebook Marketplace. However, you’re specifically looking for a physical speaker not a headset or headphones. In this case, you can use excluders to refine your search.
See this example:
Search: “Bluetooth Speaker” –You want to see listings for Bluetooth speakers.
Excluder: “headphones” –You don’t want Bluetooth headphones.
Now, let’s break down how this works:
Scenario 1: Listing Without Excluder Words in Title
- If a listing’s title is “High-Quality Bluetooth Speaker,” you will be notified as the excluders ‘headphone” and “headset” are not present.
Scenario 2: Listing With Excluder Word in Title
- If another listing’s title is “High quality Bluetooth headphone speakers,” you won’t be notified. Even though it has some relevant words it also contains the excluder word “headphone” which you specified as a term to exclude.
In this way, using “headphone” as an excluder ensures that you won’t receive notifications for headphones, helping you focus on the type of Bluetooth speaker that you want to find.
This demonstrates how excluders provide a powerful way to filter out listings that include specific words you’re not interested in, allowing you to tailor your notifications to match your precise requirements.
