I Am Getting Too Many Results

If you are getting too many results there are a number of things you can do.

Revise Your Initial Marketplace Search

Make sure that the term you use in your initial search is not too broad. Basically you should input whatever you would put in if you were searching on Marketplace. If you want a Honda car, don not just put in “Honda.” Honda would give you a vast array of results from mowers to generators to cars. Input “Honda Civic” if you want the specific brand or “Honda Car” for all Honda Cars would give a more specific approach.

When you have made a search and results start coming in look at your feed and check for unwanted results, if needed add some excluders and includers. Check that all your desired results still come through and make sure that you have not inadvertently filtered out a keyword by missing an important includer word or using an inappropriate excluder.

When you have set up your search and perfected your filters you can leave it and get on with flipping.

Narrow Your Radius and Price Range

If there are a large number of listings in a given search it can be a good idea to use the distance filter to exclude farther away items you are not interested in. If you never buy couches for more than $400 then limit the price range to this value.

Add Includer and Excluder Words

One of the best things about Swoopa is that it picks up every listing that exists in a Marketplace search. Some categories of items on Marketplace have a small number of listings because they arn’t that common. Marketplace tends to fill up the feeds for these searches with irrelevant items – one can only assume this is to keep you scrolling through their ads. For searches that are affected by marketplace sending irrelevant items it is essential to add includer and excluder filters, Swoopa will only show you listings that pass through these filters so that you only get notified a few times a day.

Edit Your Existing Search to Add Filters

Easily modify your searches by editing them in the search tab. Click edit and go through each filter and make changes as needed. If you are unsure about how to successfully use the filters read all the supporting information. Before you add inluders and excluders look at your feed to determine what key words would be appropriate. Then after adding filters check that you are still getting the results you want to see.

IMPORTANT: If you do not add an important includer you will not see listings with the missing key word from your search. So its important that you get it right. For example if you search for couch and add an includers for sofa, sectional, lounge, but overlook adding an includer for “couch” (your original search term) all the listings titled couch will be missing. So be careful!
